KAI's new UCAV features a jet-powered blended-wing-body design rather similar to the X-47B demonstrator, being developped by Northrop Grumman for the US Navy.
The K-X concept features increased caracteristics compared to the company's K-UCAV platform. The 7.62m-long UCAV has a 10.5m wingspan, a maximum speed of Mach 0.8, a service ceiling of 12,000 m (40,000ft). KAI didn't detailed the UCAV potential endurance. Range is cited as 361km, with maximum take-off weight being 3,910kg. KAI's new UCAV demonstrator made its first public appearance in Jan. 2016 at the kick-off meeting of KF-X aircraft development project, at the KAI Aircraft Development Center in Sachon. KAI launched studies into UCAV demonstrators in 2008 with the K-UCAV. |
