The contract includes "AH-64E full-rate production of remanufactured aircraft and new build aircraft, remanufacture and new build Longbow crew trainers, peculiar ground support equipment, initial spares, integrated logistics support, and engineering technical services," the US DoD said.
"Work will be performed in Mesa, Arizona, with an estimated completion date of June 30, 2022. U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity," the DoD added. The Royal Saudi Arabian Armed Forces actually operates a mixed fleet of AH-64D/E Apache helicopters, among them 12 Apache Echo models are flown by the Saudi Arabian National Guard. The Guardian variant is an upgraded variant which features improved digital connectivity, the Joint Tactical Information Distribution System, more powerful T700-GE-701D engines with upgraded face gear transmission to accommodate more power, capability to control unmanned aerial vehicle (UAVs), full IFR capability, and improved landing gear. New composite rotor blades, which successfully completed testing in 2004, increase cruise speed, climb rate, and payload capacity. The Longbow Crew Trainer is the centerpiece of Boeing’s AH-64 Apache training. The high-fidelity flight simulator is used by pilots and other personnel to practice aircraft procedures and rehearse missions. The Longbow Crew Trainer is containerized and deployable, allowing in-theater training under a wide range of conditions. |
