Cobham has been awarded a Boeing contract for an undisclosed number of Small Diameter Bomb Carriage Systems (BRU-61/A). The award calls for the manufacture and delivery of multiple configurations of the BRU-61/A, and demonstrates Cobham’s abilities in the application of pneumatics technology to enhance mission capability.

The BRU-61/A’s are being provided to Boeing in support of domestic and international requirements starting in 2018. The contract includes two options for additional purchases thru 2021.
The BRU-61/A is capable of carrying four Small Diameter Bomb (SDB)-class precision guided munitions from a single weapons station, increasing the aircraft’s weapons carriage capability per sortie. It can safely eject them from fighter, bomber or unmanned aircraft travelling at both subsonic and supersonic speeds. “The BRU-61/A features pneumatic weapons ejection, which increases mission flexibility and reduces downtime and maintenance over pyrotechnic weapons release systems,” said Tim Sopko, Vice President and General Manager of Cobham Mission Systems Orchard Park. “Receiving this order is a continued affirmation of Cobham’s ability to win new contracts with our pneumatics expertise and dedicated approach to customer success.” |
