Lockheed Martin Commercial Engine Solutions will provide engine teardown and overhaul, on-wing support/contract field teams, and engine parts and logistics. In addition, the contractor will provide all support required to fulfill this requirement, including but not limited to labor, materials, tools, equipment, parts, and transportation, the US DoD said on its website.
"Work will be performed at Travis Air Force Base, California; McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey; San Antonio, Texas; and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and is expected to be complete by March 6, 2026.," the US DoD added. The McDonnell Douglas KC-10 Extender is an Air Mobility Command advanced tanker and cargo aircraft. It is powered by three General Electric CF6-50C2 turbofan (52,500 lbf each). The aircraft can transport up to 75 people and nearly 76,560 kilograms of cargo a distance of about 7,040 kilometers unrefueled. Combined, the capacity of its six tanks carries more than 356,000 pounds (160,200 kilograms) of fuel - almost twice as much as the KC-135 Stratotanker. |
