The first pictures of two Yak-130 trainer jets recently obtained from the Myanmar Air Force from Russia appeared on the "Myanmar Defense Weapons" Facebook page. The aircraft identification number are "1805" and "1806", which confirms the delivery of six Yak-130 vehicles to the Myanmar Air Force.

A contract to supply Myanmar with an undisclosed number of Yak-130 aircraft ("more than ten") was signed by Rosoboronexport JSC on June 22, 2015.

"At present, six units of Yak-130 combat training planes are in service with the Air Force of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, following a contract signed in 2015 and planned to be implemented in 2018," Mikhail Petukhov, deputy director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia (FSMTC), stated on November 8, 2017.

The first three Yak-130 aircraft built by Irkutsk Aviation Plant PJSC were delivered to Myanmar at the end of 2016 and officially entered the Myanmar Air Force in February 2017, receiving the identification numbers "1801", "1802" and "1803".

Myanmar is the fourth foreign customer of the Yak-130 aircraft after Algeria (which received 16 vehicles), Bangladesh (16) and Belarus (eight units).

The Yak-130 is a new-generation two-seat jet-propelled combat trainer designed for combat training. The plane can be also used to attack aerial and ground targets in all weather conditions.

The plane’s operational and maneuvering capabilities make it close to advanced fighter jets in the subsonic regime. This allows the Yak-130 plane to train pilots for 4+ and 5th-generation aircraft.
