According to the Peruvian Army, the Center is "78% completed". It has a square of 500,000 sq m. The center located in La Joya district (Arequipa region) comprises testing grounds and two hangars that can repair up to four helicopters simultaneously, IHS Jane`s says. Peru`s Armed Forces are satisfied with the Mi-17-family utility helicopters as they feature an advanced performance in mountainous terrain and the ability to operate successfully at high altitudes, the think-tank adds quoting a Peruvian Army source as saying.

According to the Military Balance 2017 handbook, the Peruvian military operates 19 Mi-17 helicopters.
