"Long-term contracts have been placed with the Irkut Corporation that is to deliver 17 Su-30SM and 10 Yak-130 aircraft this year," he said on a visit to the manufacturer.

In 2016, Irkut fulfilled all of its orders awarded by the Russian government. In 2015, the company delivered upwards of 60 Su-30SM fighters and Yak-130 combat trainers.

In April 2016, the military and Irkut signed a new contract for more than 30 Su-30SMs to be delivered before year-end 2018 within the framework of the 2016-2018 Defense Procurement Program.

The RusAF will have received 30 Yak-130s before year-end 2018. This is the service’s fourth order of the combat trainer. With the order executed, the Russian Air Force will have 109 Yak-130s on strength.

The Russian Defense Minister in 2017 shall also take delivery of 10 Sukhoi Su-35S (Flanker-E) advanced supermaneuverable multirole fighters, with four Su-27s to be upgraded to Su-35 standard [Su-27SM3], Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov has told journalists.

"Last year, we placed a long-term order for the construction of Su-35S aircraft. This year, we intend to receive 10 Su-35S’s and have four Su-27s to be upgraded to Su-35 configuration," he said while visiting the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Plant (KnAAZ).

"According to pilots, the plane is outstanding. It features unique flight characteristics and has taken its baptism of fire in Syria, earning raving reports there," the deputy defense minister emphasized.

The Su-35S is a Russian-built Generation 4++ multirole fighter from the Sukhoi Design Bureau. In 2016, KnAAZ started carrying out the Defense Ministry-awarded contract for 50 Su-35S aircraft, with the contract’s deadline being 2020. Ten aircraft are planned to be made per annum. The manufacturer has delivered a total of 48 planes since 2009.
