In a statement released on the Swedish Ministry of Defense website, Pål Jonson highlighted the increasing importance of drones in modern conflicts. "Drones have become a crucial part of contemporary warfare and are vital for enabling Ukraine to counter Russian attacks, primarily on the ground, and to gather battlefield intelligence. Together with other nations, we will support Ukraine in the drone coalition regarding the purchase, supply, and training of drone pilots," stated Jonson.

Sweden's involvement brings valuable experiences and knowledge to the development of its defense capabilities in this area. In addition to Sweden, the coalition includes Australia, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, and the United Kingdom. The coalition is co-led by Latvia and the United Kingdom.

It is also noted that Sweden previously donated 10 million euros to Ukraine for drone purchases. The coalition's program may include systematic personnel training in addition to the joint procurement of drones for the Ukrainian armed forces.

The Dutch Defense Minister announced a contribution of 20 million euros to the joint fund of the coalition for Ukraine, thus reinforcing the collective commitment of the member countries to support Ukraine's defense efforts. This initiative is part of an international solidarity effort to enhance Ukraine's capabilities in its defense against Russian aggression.

The signing of this agreement by Pål Jonson represents a significant step in Sweden's commitment to supporting Ukraine, while also enhancing its own defense capabilities in the field of drone technology.
