Iran has conducted all preliminary tests of Bavar 373 missile system.

According a news from the Iranian press agency website FarNews, all preliminary tests of the latest Iranian-made air defense missile system Bavar (Belief) 373 have been conducted. The Bavar-373 is a mobile air defense system unveiled in August 2016, it was designed based on the Russian S-300 surface-to-air missile.

"All tests of the preliminary stages of Bavar 373 defense shield have been conducted successfully," said Deputy Commander of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base General Abolfazl Sepehri-Raad on Saturday, January 6, 2017.

Iran designed and developed its own version of the S-300 missile shield after the Russians shrugged off delivery of their advanced missile defense system to Iran on the pretext of the UN Security Council sanctions.

According to the Iranian defense industry experts, the Iranian Bavar-373 has superior features that the original Russian S-300 model as it enjoys increased mobility, agility and reduced launch-preparation time.

In April 2015, Iran unveiled some of Bavar's subsystems, which include the Fakour commanding and smart control system which has the ability to collect information from all sources relevant to air defense, including passive and active military radars (such as the Mersad), signal surveillance, missile systems and commanding and control systems.

The Bavar-373 will utilize Sayyad-4 missile, which are contained in two rectangular launch canisters. No formal information was given about this missile but it appears from news photos that Sayyad-4 is similar to Sayyad-3 in wings and control surfaces, however it varies lightly in frontal shape.

The first pictures released on Internet, showed canisters of Bavar-373 with Sayyad-4 missiles are carried on the Zoljanah 10×10 truck.
