Serbian Armed Forces Prepare for Peacekeeping Deployment with Miloš Armoured Vehicle.
The Serbian Armed Forces (SAF) are intensifying their preparations for an upcoming peacekeeping mission with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). In a significant step toward readiness, gunners and drivers of an infantry company from the 1st Army Brigade have completed essential training on the Miloš armoured multi-purpose combat vehicle at Base South. This training marks a critical milestone in their mission preparation, as the new vehicle will replace the older VPB M-86 military police combat vehicles previously used by the SAF contingent in UNIFIL operations.

As part of the ongoing training program, the focus has been on providing the infantry company with both theoretical and practical experience, ensuring that all personnel are proficient in operating the Miloš vehicle across a variety of terrains. This includes mastering tactical maneuvers and executing live fire exercises with the vehicle's integrated armament systems. The comprehensive nature of this training aims to equip the soldiers with the skills needed to navigate complex operational environments and carry out their peacekeeping duties effectively.
The Miloš vehicle is regarded for its advanced capabilities, making it an ideal asset for peacekeeping missions. Its high mobility, integrated armament system, and robust ballistic and anti-mine protection ensure that it can perform a wide range of tasks. These include critical activities such as patrolling, reconnaissance, and providing support to Special Forces. In Lebanon, the vehicle will play a central role in patrolling, observation, and force protection, ensuring the safety and security of UNIFIL personnel and local communities.
In addition to vehicle-specific training, the next phase for the infantry company will involve individual training. This will focus on tactical procedures, including learning the standard operating procedures set by the United Nations, and ensuring that all personnel are familiar with the international protocols and operational standards in peacekeeping missions. Following individual training, the soldiers will proceed to collective unit exercises to further refine their coordination and operational efficiency.
The SAF’s participation in peacekeeping operations is not only a testament to the professionalism of its armed forces but also demonstrates Serbia's ongoing commitment to global peace and security. By taking part in international peacekeeping efforts, Serbia contributes to the maintenance of stability in conflict-prone areas, while also reinforcing its ability to deploy forces within multinational frameworks. Missions like these are vital for strengthening Serbia's operational readiness, improving interoperability with international forces, and enhancing the country's diplomatic standing on the global stage.
As the Serbian Armed Forces continue to prepare for their deployment in Lebanon, the focus remains on developing international cooperation and fostering a deeper understanding of peacekeeping operations, all while ensuring that the SAF maintains the highest standards of operational excellence in complex and challenging environments.
