9A33BM OSA-P, the modernized SA-8 air-defense missile system on the wheeled chassis BAZ-5937

The Polish army continues to use the russian anti-aircraft defense system SA-8, while passing by a modernization allowing to answer the new threats and combat missions. The modernized SA-8 anti-aircraft missile system combat vehicle 9A33BM OSA-P is designed to destroy the aircrafts, helicopters, rockets and other air targets in good and limited visibility conditions, using of radio location or optoelectronics system and Automatic diagnostic system.
The modernization advantages:
- Day and night target tracking with small cloudiness to the distance of 30 km – using the optoelectronic system, with average cloudiness to 20 km with automatic tracking – using video tracker.
- The distance measurement (using the laser rangefinder) to the target like TS ISKRA, SU22:
* to 6 – 9 km (operating on the height up to 1,000 m)
* to 10 – 15 km (operating on the height above 1,000m
- The distance measurement (using the laser rangefinder) to the target moving with very small speeds and the helicopters – up to 20 – 25 km
- The qualification of the own position with exactitude not smaller than 30 m
- The enlargement about at least 30% maximum distance of detection of targets with the small effective reflection surface. Enlarge the coefficient of the strengthener of the receiving track above 6 dB and the coefficient of the hums of the receiving track was lowered, about at least 2dB. The probability of correct detection grew up and the probability of the false alarm got smaller
- The engagement about at least 10dB of suppression of passive jamming and non-synchronic signals. Suppression of the jamming of passive signals proceeds in the whole range of searching radar (previously up to 35 km, at present up to 45 km), for target tracking radar in the whole range (previously – 1,5 km, at present up to 28 km)
- The improvement of the firing parameters in the conditions of strong active jamming with use of the optoelectronic system. The modernized SA-8 missile combat vehicle PRWB OSA-P devices make possible the passage from video tracker passive tracking on radio locating tracking and the life firing can be conduct in the basic kind of the work. The modernized SA-8 missile combat vehicle PRWB OSA-P devices make possible speed steering of the target tracking radar column in the PA mode from Beta (in the azimuth) and Epsylon (in the elevation) knobs; that is why the life firing can be conduct in the basic kind of the work “Semi-automatic”.
