General Dynamics has unveiled Scout SV PMRS Protected Mobility Recce Support vehicle.
At DVD (Defence Vehicle Dynamics Exhibition) which was held in Millbrook (United Kingdom) from the 25 to 26 June 2014, General Dynamics United Kingdom Limited has unveiled the first SCOUT Specialist Vehicle (SV) pre-production prototype vehicle. The platform, a Protected Mobility Recce Support (PMRS) variant, will provide safe transportation for fully-equipped soldiers in a well-protected environment.

The pre-production prototype will showcase the step-change in armoured fighting vehicle capability being delivered to the British Army.

The Scout SV is developed to replace the fleet of CVRT family vehicles which is currently in service with the British Army. The British Ministry of Defence (MoD) has confirmed that the cost of the contract for the demonstration phase of the Scout SV family of vehicles has risen by 20%, from £500m to more than £600m

General Dynamics recently completed the Base Platform Critical Design Review (CDR) for the PMRS variant. The review covered the PMRS system architecture, including the physical architecture and software, its sub-systems and PMRS specific design interfaces, as well as confirming its mine and ballistic survivability design following an extensive test regime.

Each SCOUT SV platform variant - one of which is the PMRS variant - will be a highly-agile, tracked, medium-weight armoured fighting vehicle, providing British troops with state-of-the-art protection. SCOUT SV vehicles are developed upon a highly-adaptable and capable Common Base Platform, maximising commonality in mobility, electronic architecture and survivability that ensures the British Army has a family of world-class platforms.

Protected Mobility Recce Support (PMRS) will be used to deliver and support specialist troops across the battlefield to enable organic combined arms manoeuvre at the lowest tactical level alongside SCOUT equipped troops.

PMRS provides safe transportation of the modern, fully equipped, soldier in a well protected environment. On dismount, the fully briefed troops will be able to more effectively conduct a variety of tasks such as dismounted surveillance (including patrols), observation posts and close target reconnaissance. It will also serve in a variety of non-specialist Liaison Officer roles, including Forward Air Controllers.

At DVD, the Scout SV PMRS was armed with a Remote Weapon Station Kongsberg, armed with a 12.7mm machine gun.
