According the International Business Times, Chinese troops have joined Russia and Iran to protect the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. A report claims that a Chinese naval vessel carrying dozens of "military advisors" is on its way to Syria and the Chinese troops will then join with the "hundreds" of Russian soldiers. The Chinese army has increased its number of exercises with Russia over the past 3 years.

"The Chinese will be arriving in the coming weeks," a Syrian army official told Lebanon-based news website -Al-Masdar Al-'Arabi.

The Chinese ship has crossed the Suez Canal in Egypt and is currently in the Mediterranean Sea.

However, according to Israeli military news website - DEBKAfile, the aircraft carrier, Liaoning-CV-16, is already docked at the Syrian port of Tartus, accompanied by a guided missile.

The Chinese troops are expected to join the Russian forces in the Latakia region, where the Russians are building a massive military base.

The French government joined the air campaign against Islamic State in Syria and destroyed one of the group’s training camps in a bombing raid, President François Hollande announced Sunday.

French armed forces had previously bombed militant targets in neighboring Iraq as part of a U.S.-led coalition, but France had not attacked the group in Syria out of fear that doing so would indirectly prop up the government of President Bashar Assad.
