Defense and Security 2015 has set a new record with the exhibition expanding by over 30% with over 340 companies from world leading manufacturers in over 40 countries. This year the number of trade visitors to the exhibition is expected to reach over 13,000 from 60 countires and over 100 official and unofficial delegations including Ministers of Defence, Chiefs of Armed Forces and High-Ranking Government officials from over 30 nations. | |||

The Seminar aimed to encourage the development of regional industrial and technological strength, and to seek opportunities to promote technology sharing as well as reduce annual defence imports from non-ASEAN members. It also addressed trends in the ASEAN defence industry and evaluated the costs and benefits of defence collaboration. The Seminar was attended by more than 300 professionals in defence and security industries, delegations plus exhibitors, military and governmental officials from across ASEAN. The Seminar opened with the Thai Permanent Secretary for Defence, ADM. Anuthai Rattarangsi, Deputy Permanent Secretary (1) who made his opening remarks to the audience followed by a Presentation entitled ‘SUCCESSFUL FACTORS OF DEFENCE INDUSTRY COLLABORATION’ which was delivered by Professor Ron Matthews, Chair of Defence Economics Centre for Defence Management and Leadership Cranfield University, UK. This was followed by a Presentation on ‘SOUTHEAST ASIA TRENDS: DEFENCE INDUSTRY AND CAPABILITIES’ By Mr. Thomas Withington MA, Editor-in-Chief Armada International and the Asian Military Review. |
