India moves on with the procurement of Apache and Chinook helicopters
Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United States, the Finance Ministry of India has signed the acquisition of 22 Boeing AH-64D Apache and 15 Boeing CH-47F Chinook helicopters. The USD3.1 billion programme has finally been cleared after three years of delays.

The programmes had seen 13 price extensions and they were on the verge of being abolished by the US side. In case that happened, it would have most probably resulted in a price hike of almost 40%. According to the Hindustan Times newspaper, the deal is expected to receive its final clearance tomorrow by the Cabinet Committee on Security.
