Lockheed Martin has introduced a new, state-of-the-art radar technology. It is called Digital Array Row Transceiver (DART) and is based on the use of Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology. Its results will offer greater performance and low life-cycle cost for the company’s products, thanks to the improved energy efficiency.

DART technology will be offered through the recently launched TPS-77 Multi-Role Radar system and could be integrated in legacy ones such as the TPS-77, TPS-59 and FPS-117, extending their operational life.

The official presentation of the DART technology took place at its radar users’ conference in Orlando, Florida. Delegations from more than 25 countries using Lockheed Martin’s radars attended the event, which is an opportunity to meet experts, exchange experiences and share best practices.

Mark Mekker, Lockheed Martin’s Director of Surveillance Radar division, said: “This technology is based in part on feedback we have received from customers with whom we’ve developed strong partnerships with over decades. We are excited to offer this enhanced technology to all our ground-based radar customers.”
