In 2016, the Russian robotic system /RS/ Nerekhta will be ready for trials, a defense industry source said. "The example displayed at the Innovations Day was virtually ready for trials, but it’s far more important to find an application for this robot at one or other agency, which is not a fast process. As for the date of trials, in 2016 the robot will be prepared for them," the source said.

The Nerekhta robot system is of modular design. Its platform can be used for creating a fire support vehicle, a modular artillery reconnaissance vehicle and a robot fitted with a target system for special ops units. Mounted on the fire support system is a 12.7 mm machinegun. The first tests of a vehicle fitted with Nerekhta are due to start In 2015. This is armed with a 7.62mm machinegun with an ammunition reserve of up to 500 rounds and a continuous burst of up to shots. The defense industry source noted that in the future the fire support robot will be armed with a more powerful machinegun designed specifically for the Nerekhta system.The Nerekhta multirole combat support robot system is developed by the Degtyarev plant jointly with the Advanced Research Foundation and NPO High Precision Systems Research and Production Association. The new system was first demonstrated at the Russian Defense Ministry Innovations Day held in early October 2015. |
