Worldwide industry's top performing companies are presenting their products and innovations. Among the products presented, a special focus will be made on new information, observation, surveillance, prevention, and warning systems.
Global spending for internal state security of the (including cyber security and not including the Police Department's budget) amounted to about 125 billion euros in 2014, a quarter of total security investments. This niche has experienced an increase which was twice as fast as the figures for overall safety: + 8% to 10% per year on average against 4%. This increase varies according to the region and depends on the number of attacks committed or on the perception that the authorities have about the "threat" situation. In these last months, there has been a larger array of targets as can be identified with terrorists attacks against the newspaper Charlie Hebdo in France, a museum in Tunisia or against the passengers of a train, a deadly explosion at a peace rally in Turkey, etc. and recently the terrorist attacks in Paris. This mutation involves an adaptation of the safety devices: a massive increase in the presence of the security forces -keeping in mind that the limits of this increase seem affected in many countries due to the sheer amount of security forces that are already deployed- proliferation of video surveillance systems, security systems integrating more complex, encompassing and "open" technologies from different horizons (biometric access control, surveillance drones, tele-video-surveillance, infrared cameras, event monitoring software, etc.) and «big data» management in order to detect threats "upstream" etc. Milipol is one of the most important exhibition in the world dedicated for the Security and Police Forces where more than 900 exhibitors from 49 countries present latest technologies and innovations to response to the new modern threats. |
