Tor-M2U and Buk-M2 SAMs firings to take place at Kaputsin Yar range in May, June 2016 | |||
The air defense missile battallion of a tank brigade deployed at the Eastern Military District (EMD) will conduct Tor-M2U (NATO reporting name: SA-15 Gauntlet) and Buk-M2 (SA-17 Gadfly) surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems firings at the Kapustin Yar range (Astrakhan Region) in May and June, 2016. It was revealed by the chief of the 726th Air Defense Training Center, Colonel Sergey Grishkov.

"In June 2016, the battallion`s personnel and equipment will be stationed at Kapustin Yar range to conduct field and fit firings", Grishkov said said during the defense production acceptance single day (March 11). According to him, the 726th center had received a divisional set of Tor-M2U air defense system.
At his turn, the chief of the Land Forces` Air Defense Training Center, Dmitry Kileev pointed out, that the 106th Air Defense Training Center had received a set of Buk-M2 SAM system. "The set is intended for the Southern Military District`s (SMD) air defense missile brigade formed on December 31, 2015," Kileev said. The Buk-M2 systems would be stationed at the Kapustin Yar range to conduct fit firing trials. During the defense production acceptance single day, the Director General of the Nizhny Novgorod Television Plant (Russian acronym: NITEL), Sergey Samoilov said that Russian Aerospace Forces had received Nebo-U mobile radar station, which could detect and track 250 targets simultaneously at distances up to 500 km.- |
