"These successful firings of the supersonic cruise missile were carried out in full operational land-to-land configurations from mobile autonomous launchers at its full range. The multirole missile successfully hit the ground target with desired precision demonstrating the accuracy of less than 1 m during both trials. The successive launches reinforce the formidable weapon’s precision strike capability," PIB pointed out.

According to the bureau, five consecutive successful launches of the BRAHMOS Block III missiles have been conducted with hitting of ground targets in the top attack mode.

"The Indian Army, which became the first land force in the world to deploy BRAHMOS in 2007, has raised several regiments of this weapon. Jointly developed by India’s Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Russia’s NPOM, BRAHMOS is capable of being launched from land, sea, sub-sea and air against surface and sea-based targets," PIB added.

The Brahmos is a short-range cruise missile that can be launched from submarine, ships, aircraft, or land. It was developed jointly by India and Russia. The new Brahmos 3 has an extanded range of 450 km compared with the previous version which has a range of 290 km.
