The new LMV 4x4 armored vehicle will be used by the 31st Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Defense Regiment of the Czech Army based in Liberec.
During the edition 2013 of IDET, the International Defense Exhibition in Czech Republic, the local Company VOP has unveiled the LAV-CBRN Light Armored Vehicles System based on a IVECO LMV chassis.
The LAV-CBRN system is designed to perform CBRN reconnaissance both in urban areas as well as in rough country terrain. It ensures automated collection and processing of data from the CBRN mission package instruments to identify toxic chemicals in the air or on the ground surface, detect sources and fields of ionizing radiation when driving on the roads or in the country.
The LAV-CBRN vehicle represents a purpose-built modification of IVECO LMV M 65E19 WM - LONG. For the CBRN reconnaissance it is equipped with onboard information system and special CBRN mission kit. The protection of the crew against toxic substances, biological warfare agents and radioactive dust is provided by a combined overpressure protection subsystem. For its self-protection, the LAV-CBRN light armored reconnaissance vehicle is fitted with an RCWS (Remote Controlled Weapon Station) armed with one 7.62mm machine gun.
