Bavar-373, the Iranian version of the Russian S-300 defense missile system, has passed its tests of intercepting ballistic missiles, said Mahmoud Ebrahiminejad, deputy commander of Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base. brahiminejad described the Bavar-373 as "more powerful and more reliable" than the S-300 missile system.
The Bavar-373 is the “brainchild” of Iranians and the country has access to all of its parts, the commander said, adding, “This is the biggest advantage that the Bavar-373 has over the S-300.” Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.
