"Since 2014 we have replaced Ukrainian products in over a hundred armaments and military hardware. The number of replaced products from the EU and NATO is much bigger - close to 200," he said. Restricted imports of components did not trigger a single disruption in defense procurement order in 2017 as they were all replaced by Russian analogues, he stressed.
Russian President Vladimir Putin urged in September 2017 to ensure technological independence of prospective Russian designs from foreign components. "A priority task for design bureaus, research institutes, and defense enterprises is the creation of prospective arms and hardware which determine the might of the Russian army," he said and recalled that the plan to replace imported military units and components had been fulfilled for three years.
