"The serial production of the Lebedev pistol will begin in the near future," he said. The plant is currently preparing a workshop for the serial PL production. The pistol itself is completing the design and preparation for acceptance trials. Kalashnikov CEO Alexey Krivoruchko earlier told TASS the trials of the latest PL-14 were to be completed by the end of 2017. He said the pistol will be in demand by the Defense Ministry and other law enforcement agencies.
PL-14 prototype designed jointly with law enforcers and leading Russian sport shooters was presented by Kalashnikov for the first time at Army-2015 forum. The new pistol for 9x19mm cartridge is distinguished by small width - 21mm in the front and 28mm at the handle. Two-side location of controls provides for the operation of the pistol by the right and left hands, while the characteristics provide for a comfortable recoil kick and quick return to the targeting line. The cartridge indicator helps feel whether the gun is armed and fire cartridges with non-standard shells by changing the geometry of the chamber.
