Ingvar Pärnamäe, the CEO of Vegvisir, expressed the company's pride in having its technology featured on some of the most advanced platforms in the defense industry. According to Pärnamäe, Vegvisir has garnered significant attention over its two years of development for its innovative approach to solving critical issues often faced by armored vehicle personnel on the battlefield. The company's unique perspective stems from its team members' first-hand military experience, which has informed their understanding of the importance of situational awareness for armored vehicles and their crews.
Vegvisir's situational awareness system is designed to provide a comprehensive 360-degree view of the surrounding environment. It achieves this through the use of vehicle-mounted cameras, an ultra-low latency headset, and supplementary data overlay capabilities. This enhanced awareness allows troops to navigate complex scenarios more effectively and make well-informed decisions in combat situations.
The Vegvisir Core system is specifically designed for a range of military vehicles, including infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, combat support platforms, engineering vehicles, and main battle tanks. It serves as a digital hub that facilitates seamless interaction among crew members and provides access to digital data. On the other hand, Vegvisir Remote is optimized for lower bandwidth and is primarily intended for optionally manned or unmanned platforms requiring remote operation.
As for the technical features, the system includes four sensor modules attached to different parts of the vehicle, providing a 360-degree field of view. It also boasts military-grade casings, optional thermal sensors, and a head or helmet-mounted display for a mixed-reality experience. The system also features an intuitive user interaction panel, a custom 3D virtual engine to support multi-user and channel input, and various additional interfaces. It can also integrate with battlefield management systems, offering data virtualization and visualization capabilities.
Vegvisir's products are demonstrated during DSEI 2023 at the Estonian Pavilion, with Vegvisir Core and Vegvisir Remote also being featured at specific stands within the exhibition.
