Minister of Defense of El Salvador, Vice Admiral René Merino, handed over these vehicles to the army, marking a new phase in the nation's fight against criminal elements. He emphasized the tactical effectiveness of the vehicles, highlighting their capacity to transport ten fully equipped soldiers. "We are consolidating Phase 3 of the Territorial Control Plan," he declared.

The "Territorial Control Plan" encompasses various measures, including strengthening security forces, improving intelligence, modernizing equipment, and interagency collaboration. The acquisition of modern armored vehicles, such as the Hurricanes, plays a pivotal role in this plan by enhancing operational capabilities. The primary goal is to reduce crime and combat gangs.

The Hurricane is an international 3300 turbo diesel unit equipped with ballistic protection against caliber .50 mm, reinforced by high-strength ballistic steel. With windows of a thickness of 90 mm, this vehicle offers robust protection against ballistic threats. Its modular design allows for the transportation of 8 to 12 passengers depending on the configuration chosen by the end-user.

Security features include tires with Run Flats technology, ensuring continuous mobility even in case of punctures. With additional loading capacity, including passengers, of up to 3 tons, the Hurricane is well-suited for diverse missions. The vehicle's interior is designed for optimal comfort for occupants, featuring ergonomic seats and 4-point seatbelts for all passengers. An upper hatch and an electric lifter are provided to facilitate firing from the vehicle.

The Hurricane is equipped with thermal and anti-noise interior coating, ensuring a pleasant working environment for the crew even in challenging conditions. Featuring 4 side doors with anti-explosive overlaps and the option for a fifth door, the vehicle guarantees optimal security during operations.

With 6 gun ports and one rear gun port, the Hurricane offers enhanced visibility and firing capabilities in various directions. Additionally, it includes specific armor for the fuel tank, battery, and floor, providing extra protection against explosive attacks. The Hurricane is utilized in law enforcement and security operations, offering significant protection and reliable mobility in diverse and demanding situations.
