This latest aid package marks the 19th installment since Russia initiated its full-scale military invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. "The outcome of the conflict in Ukraine will determine the security landscape of Europe and Finland for the distant future. That's why we, along with our allies, remain steadfast in our support for Ukraine," stated Antti Häkkänen, Finland's Minister of Defense.

To date, Finland's cumulative military aid to Ukraine amounts to €1.4 billion. Finland has provided a variety of equipment and vehicles. Among these, the armored personnel carrier Sisu XA-185 was sent in September 2022. These vehicles are essential for the secure transport of soldiers on the battlefield, offering protection against small arms fire and shrapnel.

In terms of combat engineering, Finland has promised six Leopard 2R mine-clearing tanks. These tanks are specially designed to remove mines and other explosives, thus facilitating the movement of troops and vehicles.

Self-propelled artillery is also included, with the delivery of 122mm 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers. These artillery systems offer mobile firepower and are particularly useful for infantry support. Additionally, Ukraine has also received towed artillery, including 152mm 152 K89 guns, and 130mm 130 K54s guns.

Heavy 120mm 120 Krh 85 92 mortars were provided as early as August 2022. These mortars are essential for providing indirect fire support in situations where heavier artillery is not available. In terms of anti-aircraft defense, 23mm 23 ITK 61 'Sergei' guns were sent in August 2022 to bolster Ukraine's capabilities to protect its airspace.

Finland has also supplied a substantial arsenal of anti-tank weapons, including 1,500 66 KES (M72 LAW) anti-tank weapons and 112mm RSKES APILAS anti-tank rocket launchers. These weapons are crucial for neutralizing enemy armored vehicles. Lastly, the Ukrainian infantry has been equipped with small arms, including 12.7mm 12.7 ItKK 96 heavy machine guns and 2,500 assault rifles.

The previous, 18th round of military aid, amounting to €94 million, received approval from the Finnish President on August 25. Additionally, Finland's Foreign Ministry has previously disclosed that an extra €92 million is being allocated to assist Ukraine and other nations impacted by Russian hostilities.
