The Hybrid Power Group project, initiated at the FNSS R&D Centre in 2021, aims to create a hybrid power pack solution that can be integrated into tracked platforms in the company's product range and potentially into other tracked vehicle families in need of capability enhancement and life extension. The assembly of the first prototype vehicle has been completed, and ongoing work is focused on control software development and improvement activities. Critical verification tests are scheduled to begin later in 2023.

One of the key goals of the Hybrid Power Group is to offer a reliable alternative solution for tracked vehicle transmission. The system, designed for tracked vehicles weighing up to 20 tons, can be adapted to meet the requirements of new tracked vehicle development programs and capability enhancement projects.

The new hybrid (diesel-electric) tracked vehicle propulsion system, developed by FNSS, boasts features like silent drive and extended silent tracking. Additionally, it allows for the integration of new-generation weapon systems with high energy needs, making the vehicle suitable for combat and reconnaissance scenarios. The Hybrid Power Pack is designed to provide remarkable off-road performance for tracked vehicles, with improved fuel economy and an increased acceleration response compared to other tracked platforms. This could offer a significant advantage in responding quickly to changing battlefield conditions.

While FNSS engineers designed some of the sub-systems for the project, efforts are also underway to develop local alternatives for certain imported components, including FNSS's unique cross-drive gearbox.

FNSS, a globally recognized land systems company, specializes in designing and producing wheeled and tracked armored combat vehicles, combat engineering vehicles, turrets, and sustainability solutions. Throughout its product life cycle, FNSS strives to offer innovative solutions to meet user requirements.
