On September 19, 2023, a public appeal was issued to identify authorized manufacturers for this type of military vehicle. If no additional suppliers are identified, the contract will be awarded to Osprea Logistics USA LLC, in partnership with AM General. Osprea is responsible for manufacturing the units, while AM General handles the sales and support to the U.S. government, facilitating the final marketing through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program.

The Mamba MK7, part of the renowned Mamba family of 4x4 armored vehicles, is designed and manufactured by Osprea. Known for their effectiveness in protecting multi-role forces in mine-threatened environments, the Mamba vehicles have seen extensive use across the globe. Thousands have been built, serving in various military, policing, and peacekeeping roles, notably in Africa and other regions, and are extensively used by US and NATO forces.

The exact number of Mamba Mk7 vehicles to be donated to Uruguay has not been officially disclosed, but estimates suggest that approximately twenty units will be provided. These vehicles are expected to join the Uruguayan Army's Immediate Reaction Force, ready for deployment under the United Nations missions around the world.

This acquisition signifies a major step in enhancing Uruguay's military readiness and capabilities, aligning with its continued commitment to international peacekeeping efforts.
