Founded 43 years ago to meet the needs of the Turkish Air Force, Havelsan has gradually expanded its scope to serve all branches of the armed forces, while also developing activities in the civilian sector. Today, the company focuses on critical software and has made strategic investments in artificial intelligence technologies.
Havelsan operates across air, land, and naval domains, developing interconnected systems based on advanced software architectures. AI is now embedded in all areas of its portfolio, including command systems, simulation, combat management, training, and autonomous platforms. “Artificial intelligence is at the core of all our developments. It is the central theme of our presence this year,” stated Şevket Ünal.
In the air domain, Havelsan uses AI to enhance the speed and accuracy of decision-making. Its systems process large volumes of data to directly support commanders. The added value lies in the ability to anticipate, model, and propose operational decisions within shorter timeframes.
For land forces, Havelsan invests in autonomous systems. Using swarm technologies, its platforms can operate in a distributed, coordinated, and efficient manner. AI enables more precise mission management, while reducing human involvement and exposure.
In the naval domain, AI is integrated into Havelsan’s combat management systems to support both tactical and strategic decision-making. The goal is to assist commanders in complex maritime environments where rapid analysis and response are critical.
AI is also applied in simulation and training systems. The objective is to accelerate learning cycles while reducing cost and time. This involves automated constructive learning, real-time adaptation, and AI-driven instructional modules.
Şevket Ünal also emphasized Havelsan’s role in Türkiye’s domestic defense ecosystem. The company collaborates with other national industry stakeholders within a growing ecosystem. Looking ahead, Havelsan’s objective is to remain the software backbone of Türkiye’s defense sector and to expand its international partnerships through increasingly software-centric and AI-enabled solutions.
At IDEF 2025, Havelsan did not limit itself to showcasing individual products; it presented a strategic vision centered on the integration of artificial intelligence across all defense capabilities. By prioritizing intelligent software, system autonomy, and optimized training, the company positions itself as a key contributor to the digital transformation of the armed forces. Its message is unambiguous: AI is no longer optional; it is becoming a core requirement.
