During
EURONAVAL 2014, Airbus Defence & Space presents its optics and optronics
systems for naval applications. Airbus DS developed submarines systems
as well as surface system. The twin optronic mast solution, with OMS
110 and OMS 200, is highlighed as an unprecedented awareness for submarine
systems, as well as the MEOS II optronic unit for surface systems. |
For modern submarine
operations the unique combinationFor modern submarine operations the
unique combination of OMS 110 and OMS 200 represents the peak of technological
innovation. The system configuration is designed to function under
rapidly changing operational requirements as well as varying ambient
light and weather conditions. Its highly modular and compact design
ensures ease of installation, integration and logistic maintainability.
The OMS solution can be fully integrated into combat management systems
ensuring full remote-control.

The compact and
highly modular design of the optronic mast system 110 ensures ease
of installation, integration and logistic maintainability. It distinguishes
itself through its unique capability to conduct a 360° quick look
around (QLR) in merely three seconds with a resultant panoramic view.
The OMS 200 sets itself apart through an enhanced stealth (visual,
IR and radar) technology in a highly integrated compact design. Its
optronics comprise an integrated sensor system made up of an HDTV
day camera, a short wave infrared (SWIR) camera and an eye-safe laser
range finder on a single line of sight.

optronic unit for surface systems highlighted at Airbus DS Optronics's
booth
With the MEOS II,
Airbus DS Optronics offers a surveillance solution that meets the highest
requirements. Combining high-end cameras and sensors, MEOS II guarantee
maximum surveillance capability in support of security while being extremely
user-friendly.
MEOS II is available as a stand-alone unit or can be fully integrated
into CMS and bridge systems. It automatically scans predefined areas
and activates target tracking. MEOS II comprises visual and IR sensors
enabling the operator to see clearly at all times in all light and weather
conditions.
With its leading thermal imaging system, MEOS II excels at search and
rescue missions. Thus, the chance of detection of a man in the water
is greatly enhanced up to distances of at least 3 km.
MEOS II is a fully stabilised, compactly designed surveillance system
which bundles various state-of-the-art sensors. Thus, offering the user
a large variety of functions comprised in only one device. MEOS II is
equiped with an windows cleaning unit, operated from the standalone
or integrated console.
MEOS II can be upgraded to meet specific naval surveillance, target
aquisition and tracking requirements. The standard MEOS II system can
be operationally enhanced by the addition of a high repetition rate
12 Hz laser rangefinders and SWIR capability for exceedong atmospherical
limits (haze and fog), as a complement to the visual daylight and infrared
camera. Deeper integration into a CMS, as an aid to fire control solutions,
is feasible.
At EURONAVAL 2014, Airbus DS Optronics's stand is G49.
