Chinese Navy (PLAN) commissions Type 056 and Type 056A Corvettes on the same day
 
Just a few days following the commissioning of its first Type 056A ASW corvette (read our story here) the Chinese Navy (PLAN) commissioned two more corvettes simultaneously: On the same day (November 28th), the PLAN inducted Type 056 Corvette (Jiangdao class) Chaozhou (hull number 595) and Type 056A ASW Corvette Zhuzhou (hull number 594).

According to Navy Recognition's Chinese sources, "Chaozhou" (hull number 595) was launched in the water one year ago (on 12/11/2013).

"Chaozhou" is 17th to be commissioned in the PLAN and the 9th corvette commissioned so far this year. It will serve in the PLAN's South Sea Fleet.

Just a few days following the commissioning of its first Type 056A ASW corvette (read our story here) the Chinese Navy (PLAN) commissioned two more corvettes simultaneously: On the same day (November 28th), the PLAN inducted Type 056 Corvette (Jiangdao class) Chaozhou (hull number 595) and Type 056A ASW Corvette Zhuzhou (hull number 594).
"Zhuzhou" is the second Type 056A corvette of the class, dedicated for ASW missions.
     
According to Navy Recognition's Chinese sources, "Zhuzhou" (hull number 594) was launched in the water one year ago (on 30/11/2013), ten days following the lauch of the first Type 056A "Sanmenxia".

"Zhuzhou" is the 18th Type 056 corvette to be commissioned in the PLAN (and the second Type 055A as the first ASW Corvette was commissioned just days ago). It will serve in the PLAN's East Sea Fleet.

November 28th 2014 marked the first time that the PLAN commissioned two corvettes on the same day. It was probably the last commissioning of PLAN vessels for 2014 but many more Type 056 corvettes are expected to be inducted next year.

Of the 23 Type 056 launched in the water to date, 16 hulls are "regular" Type 056 corvettes (hull numbers in the order of their construction: 582, 596, 584, 580, 583, 597, 585, 581, 586, 587, 590, 589, 588, 592, 591, 595) and 7 are the ASW variant Type 056A (hull numbers in the order of their construction: 593, 594, 501, 502, 503, 504 plus a seventh hull that has not number yet but which was launched on 11/10/2014).
