Qualification misssion for Russian Navy Admiral Grigorovich frigate and Vyshny Volochyok corvette.
According to information published by the Russian press agency TASS on January 20, 2021, the Russian Navy Project 11356 frigate Admiral Grigorovich (NATO reporting name: Krivak V) and the Project 21631 corvette Vyshny Volochyok (Buyan-M class) of the Black Sea Fleet have fulfilled the K-1 qualification mission that is an annual initial stage to allow ship crews to accomplish assigned missions, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press office said.

“The exercise was held under the combat training program of the Russian Navy’s permanent formation deployed in the Mediterranean Sea,” the press office said.
While fulfilling the qualification mission, the seamen practiced preparing the ships for a battle and a cruise, trained air defense and damage control at the logistics support base.
Besides, the crews practiced protecting the ships from frogmen while staying at the port, taking on board weapons and ammunition, servicing armament and shipborne mechanisms.
The Admiral Grigorovich frigate and the Vyshny Volochyok corvette have been accomplishing assigned missions as part of the Russian Navy’s permanent formation deployed in the Mediterranean Sea since December 2020 and November 2020, respectively.
The Admiral Grigorovich is a frigate of the Russian Navy and the lead ship of her class. The first of the class, the Admiral Grigorovich, was commissioned in 2016. She is in service by the Russian Navy Black Sea Fleet. The Russian designation is Project 11356Р/М, built by the Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad for the Russian Navy and Indian Navy.
The frigate Admiral Grigorovich is powered by a combined gas turbine and gas turbine (COGAG) propulsion system that includes two DS-71 cruise gas turbines developing 8,450 shp (6,300 kW) and two DT-59 boost gas turbines developing 22,000 shp (16,000 kW). She can reach a top speed of 30 kn (56 km/h; 35 mph) with a crusiing range of 4,850 nmi (8,980 km; 5,580 mi) at 14 kn (26 km/h; 16 mph).
The is armed with one 100 mm A-190 Arsenal naval gu, eight UKSK VLS cells for Kalibr, Oniks or Zircon anti-ship cruise missiles, 24 3S90M VLS (Vertical Launching System) cells for 9M317M surface-to-air-missiles, two AK-630 CIWS Close-In Weapon System), Igla-S or Verba surface-to-air missiles, two double 533 mm torpedo tubes and one RBU-6000 rocket launcher.
The Vyshny Volochyok Project 21631 guided missile corvette (NATO reporting name: Buyan-M) in service with the Russian Navy. The Project 21631 corvette is armed with the Kalibr (SS-N-27 Sizzler) missile system containing missiles in the 3S14 vertical launcher with eight launch tubes. The Kalibr system attacks seaborne and land-based targets, using the 3M-54 (SS-N-27 Sizzler) and 3M-14 (SS-N-30) cruise missiles, respectively. The Project 21631 corvette has the A-190 100mm gun, the AK-630-2 Duet small-caliber antiaircraft artillery system and 3M-47 Gibka launchers as well. The ship has a length of 75 m, a displacement of 949 t, a speed of 25 kt and a cruising range of 2,500 nautical miles. Its cruising capacity is up to ten days. The ship has a crew of 52 people.
