The Vega 6x6 is armoured vehicle personnel carrier designed and manufactured by the Czech Defense Company SVOS. According to SVOS, the vehicle is a mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicle. The Vega is also available in 4x4 configuration. The first version of the Vega was showed in 2011 at the International Defense Exhibition IDET in Czech Republic. The Vega 6x6 was unveiled for the first time to the public in June 2014, during the International Defense Exbition Eurosatory in Paris, France.

The Vega 6x6 can be fitted with a full range of weapon systems including remote controlled weapon station which can be armed with a 7.62 mm or 12.7 machine gun or a light cannon up to 30mm caliber.

| Design and protection |
|
The Vega 6x6 is based on Tatra truck chassis with the engine at the front, the crew cabin in the middle and the the troops compartment at the rear. The front of the crew cabin is fitted with a large wind screen and one single door is available on each side of the hull. The vehicle is built around an armoured hull the capacity of which is up 19 m' (up to 30 m' for the 6*6 version). It is a monocoque design, which means an increased flexibility and static strength of the vehicle. In case of mine explosion under tthe front wheel, the blast is transmitted into the engine compartment rather than into the crew cab or combat compartment. The bottom of the hull uses a V-shaped design to dissipate and deflect away the blast wave in the event of an explosion under the vehicle, thus reducing the effect of anti-tank mines or lEDs. There is a floor above the hull bottom, which further improves the protection of personnel in the vehicle. It offers protection against most explosively former penetrators (EFPs) and improvised explosive devices (lEDs), and withstands a blast of 50 kg of TNT. The armour on the sides, front and rear of the vehicle provides protection against small arms fire and fragments of artillery shells, airdropped bombs and rockets/missiles. The protection of Vega's sides between front and rear wheels is enhanced by boxes for the storage of tools, spare parts and other materiel. Furthermore, Vega can be optionally equipped with the Czech "Kosa" (Scythe) reactive armour system, currently at the top of similar systems developed worldwide. The Vega 6x6 can carry a total of 14 military personnel including driver, commander and gunner. A power-operated ramp at the rear part of the troops compartment offers to the soldiers to leave and enter quickly in the vehicle.

| Mobility |

The Vega 6x6 is motorized with an air or water-cooled engine delivering more than 300 kW. Its torque is transferred to the drive train by an automatic or semi-automatic gearbox. In the basic version a Cummins ISMe 420 30 turbocharged diesel of 306 kW is coupled with a six-speed Allison 4500 SP automatic gearbox. As an alternative the Tatra air-cooled VB diesel of S70 kW can be fitted. This engine could be coupled with a semiautomatic fourteen-speed Tatra gearbox or with the automatic Allison 4500 SP gearbox. The engine compartment is located in the front of the vehicle to increase the level of ballistic protection of its frontal hemisphere. The Vega 6x6 can run at a maximum speed of 110 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 800 km. It can negotiate a trench of 1 m wide, climb 0.6m vertical obstacle and fording water obstacles up to 150cm depth.

Standard of the Vega 6x6 includes a comprehensive communication system which is fully compatible with, for example, the operational-tactical command and control system of the Ground Forces of the Army of the Czech Republic. The Vega vehicle is also equipped with an intercom system for the vehicle commander, driver and weapon system operator. Dismounted troops communicate by personal radios; the system provides continuous and uninterrupted connection with every member of the dismounted squad and permits his position to be downloaded to the Combat Vehicle Information System (CVIS). Several vehicles can also be interconnected by optical or metallic cables and easily integrated into command posts as communication nodes or hubs. The information system permits the commander's CVIS to be linked to the night vision device and the driver's GPS to facilitate orientation. The Vega 6x6 is equipped with a central tyre inflation system (CTIS) permitting the tyre pressure to increased or reduced as necessary, or to be maintained in the event of a puncture or a bullet hole, and a run-flat system. The vehicle can be optionally installed with a self-recovery hydraulic winch with load pulling capacity of 10t. Night driving vision / external TV cameras can also be installed for day / night surveillance. Other optional equipment includes NBC filter-ventilation system, automatic fire detection system, and fire suppression system
