Iran completes construction of three Fateh class submarines hulls.

According to information published by Tasnim News on April 20, 2023, the Iranian Navy has produced three new models of its domestically-made Fateh submarine. The second, third, and fourth hulls have been constructed and are currently being furnished.

The Fateh submarine, which is propelled by diesel-electric technology, has undergone rigorous testing, including during the Zolfaqar 1401 war game held in January. The submarine has demonstrated its operational capabilities, such as launching different types of torpedoes and detecting various underwater targets.

About the Fateh class submarines

The Fateh class is a semi-heavy submarine with a displacement of 527 tons when surfaced and 593 tons when submerged. It has a length of 48 meters (157 feet) and is powered by BLDC (Diesel-electric) propulsion. The submarine has a maximum speed of 11 knots (20 km/h) when surfaced and 14 knots (26 km/h) when submerged.

The Fateh class submarine has a range of 3,600 nautical miles (6,700 km) at 8 knots (15 km/h) while snorkeling and can remain at sea for up to 35 days.

She has a test depth of 250 meters and is equipped with 11 retractable sensors, including an electro-optical mast and an optical periscope. The submarine may also have a radar and electronic intelligence sensors for target-acquisition purposes.

In terms of armament, the Fateh class submarine is equipped with six torpedoes/cruise missiles (four 533mm torpedo tubes) and eight sea mines. It also has electronic warfare capabilities and decoys.
