UK: Royal Navy River class OPV HMS Medway completes Falklands mission.
According to information published by the UK MoD on November 20, 2023, the River-class offshore patrol vessel HMS Medway has concluded a nine-month deployment in the Falklands and is set to return to the Caribbean, her regular area of operations. This transition comes after HMS Medway took over the duties typically assigned to her sister ship, HMS Forth, for most of 2023.

HMS Forth, having spent the majority of the year stationed in Gibraltar following three years of constant patrol in the challenging South Atlantic, will now assume the Falklands mission.
These exercises cover a range of tasks including search and rescue support, fishery protection, and general maritime security. HMS Medway's patrol covered the Falklands and neighboring South Georgia, logging over 16,500 nautical miles, the equivalent of sailing three-quarters of the way around the globe.
Context
The South Atlantic, covering over 15 million square miles, holds immense geopolitical importance for the Royal Navy and the United Kingdom. The Navy's operations in this vast area are crucial for preventing crime and upholding British interests, notably around the strategically significant Falkland Islands.
Here, the Royal Navy's presence underscores the UK's sovereignty and offers reassurance to residents amidst disputes with Argentina. Additionally, this deployment safeguards vital economic interests, such as access to gas and oil resources, and supports British commercial shipping.
