Army 2019: Uralvagonzavod unveils 2S41 Drok 82mm 4x4 mortar carrier


At Army-2017, Uralvagonzavod presented a scale model of its 2S41 Drok, a new wheeled self-propelled mortar based on the 4x4 chassis of Taifun K-4386. During this 2019 edition, the actual vehicle was publicly displayed for the first time.

The Taifun K-4386 is manufactured by the Russian Company Remdizel Special Vehicle Plant, a subdivision of KAMAZ. The vehicle is protected against the firing of small arms and shell splinters. It has a crew of four.

The 2S41 is fitted with a remotely operated weapon station armed with an 82mm mortar that has a firing range from 100 to 6,000 meters. The 40 grenades/shells can be fired at 12 rounds per minute. A second remote weapon station mounted on the front roof is armed with a 7.62mm machine gun.

The system weighs 14 tonnes. The Kamaz-650.10.350 engine developing 350hp enables the vehicle to drive up to 100 km/h. Its range is set at 1,200 km.
