BIDEC 2019: New HMTV High Mobility Tactical Vehicle from Saudi Arabia


The Defense Industry of Saudi Arabia MIC (Military Industries Corporation) presents its new wheeled 4x4 HMTV (High Mobility Tactical Vehicle) at BIDEC 2019, Bahrain International Defense Exhibition.

The HMTV (High Mobility Tactical Vehicle) has a conventional layout for 4x4 armored vehicle featuring a low profile design. The front of the vehicle has a large windscreen and there are two doors on each side of the hull. One more door is fitted at the rear of the vehicle.

The overall design of the HMTV is suitable for various roles and is highly flexible with respect to mission requirements. It has a GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) of 9,000 kg with a maximum payload of 1,200 kg. The vehicle is powered by a 160 kw, 4-cylinder Diesel engine coupled to an Allison automatic transmission. It can run at a maximum road speed of 110 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 450 km.

The standard vehicle provides ballistic protection Level 1 STANAG 4569 against the firing of small arms 7.62 mm caliber, it can be upgraded to Level 2 API (armor-piercing) 7.62 mm caliber. It also has mine protection against an explosion of 6 kg TNT under the wheels.

According to a description displayed at MIC booth at BIDEC 2019, the HMTV has already been tested and is being approved by the military certification institute of the EU origin.

At BIDEC 2019, the HMTV was not fitted with armament but like all modern combat vehicle it can be fitted with different types of turret including remote weapon station armed with a machine gun up to 12.7 mm caliber.
