"The aid will help Somalia's effort to establish peace and stability, and fight terrorism" the Qatar's Ministry of Defense said in a statement. Somali army has no armored vehicles, nor modern military hardware, raising fears of their capability in taking over the country’s overall security after the planned withdrawal of African Union (AMISOM) forces. In December 2018, Qatar's Air Forces dispatched 24 armored vehicles aboard three aircraft to Mali.
