Description
Cobra has one piece all-welded steel hull with automotive components and suspension units coming from US origin AM General HMMWV® Expanded Capacity variant (ECV).
Logistic Support:
Life time logistic support through immediate, efficient and timely service even in the highest risk areas gives COBRA a certain privilege. COBRA is backed by Otokar’ s comprehensive worldwide Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) program providing long term efficient and economical logistic and maintenance support ensuring complete system supportability and high system availability.
Status:
Production as required. Cobra vehicles are in service with different variants in the Turkish Armed Forces at present. Also it was entered into service almost 10 country inventories and UN operations with different variants.

Design and protection |
Cobra has an all-welded steel hull providing optimum ballistic and mine protection. If required, Cobra can be delivered with a higher level of armor protection utilizing add-on armour.
The powerpack is at the front, with the driver at the front left and the vehicle commander on his right. To the front and side of the commander and driver are bulletproof windows with those to the front being provided with a washer and wiper. There are two forward opening doors on either side of the hull. One piece type rear door featuring a bullet proof observation window with gun-port is provided. It can be locked at wide open position enabling cruising while rear door open. The troop compartment is at the rear with a gunner centrally seated behind commander and driver. The gunner, facing front, uses the weapon station mounted on the roof. Six troops seat in two sets of oppositely facing bench-type seats assembled on the left and right hand sides of the vehicle. Benches are folding type with special, ergonomic backrests and can be fold up if required. |
Mobility |
COBRA offers superior mobility and serves many different missions. The powerful turbo diesel V8 engine and high power/weight ratio give COBRA, power to navigate in the toughest terrain conditions. The suspension and complete powerpack are from the new US AM General HMMWV® Expanded Capacity Vehicle. The water-cooled turbocharged diesel engine develops 190 hp and is coupled to a four-speed automatic transmission with permanent 4x4 drive and a two-speed transfer case. The exhaust pipe runs from the engine compartment up to the left side of the roof. Single speed Torsen differentials are standard with the suspension at each wheel station being of the double A-frame type with coil springs which provides good cross-country mobility. Hypoid single reduction differentials are mounted under the hull and are coupled with independent half shafts. |
