Argentina orders first four T-6C+ Texan II trainer aircraft
 
Beechcraft has been awarded an $88.2 million Foreign Military Sale contract for four T-6C+ training aircraft, maintenance and pilot training, and interim contractor support for maintenance for the Argentina Air Force, the US DoD announced on April 25, 2017.

"Contractor will provide supplies and services to provide for the replacement of current training aircraft fleet and the enhancement of the Argentina Air Force surveillance and border security mission. Work will be performed at Wichita, Kansas, and is expected to be complete by April 30, 2018," the US DoD said on its website.

Argentina requested a possible sale of 24 T-6C+ Texan II trainer aircraft on July 29, 2016, for an estimated amount of $300 million.


"The AAF is very experienced working with the Pratt & Whitney PT6 family of engines which they currently have on their T-34, King Air, and Cessna Caravan aircraft. Given the logistical commonalities with the aircraft already in its fleet, the AAF will be able to support and field the new T-6C+s," declared the DSCA.

The Argentina Air Force currently flies a mixed fleet of 14 EMB-312 Tucano and 10 Grob G120TP trainers.

The T-6C+ Texan II is an improved variant of the T-6B with wing hard points primarily designated for export sales. the "+" version includes an FN Herstal stores management system and advanced avionics. It is powered by Pratt & Whitney PT6A-68 turboprop engine (1,100shp).
