Toros 4x4 armored vehicle now in service with the Russian Airborne Troops.

The Russian Airborne Troops formally inducted the Toros 4x4 armored vehicle, according to pictures of the Airborne Troops Day celebration 2018 held in the Park Patriot, near Moscow. The vehicle was developed by the Russian consortium "INTRALL" and UAMZ Group for the needs of the Armed forces, Law enforcements and EMERCOM.

With a combat weight of 6.8 tons, the Toros 4x4 vehicle recently showcased by the Russian Airborne Troops (VDV) incorporates a number of enhancements compared to previous versions. It now features a better protection against small arms and artillery shell splinters. According to the developers, the vehicle meets the 3rd level of bulletproof protection and 2nd level of mine protection to STANAG 4569 standard. 

The Toros can be dropped from various military airlifter with special paratroopers platform. Once on the ground, it will provide airborne troops with fire support, reconnaissance and cargo capabilities. It can also be armed with a sole machingun or an automatic grenade launcher. 

Its design offers flexibility to reconfigure the vehicle for a wide range of missions such as reconnaissance, advanced observation post, command post, mortar carrier, radar, ambulance or electronic warfare.

Based on a BTR-60 chassis, the Toros can accomodate a crew of eight soldiers and a crew of two. The Toros has a length of 5.125 m, a width of 2.447 m and a height of 2.365 m.

The vehicle is powered with a 4.7-liter turbodiesel of Minsk Motor Plant with an output of 136 hp and 460 Nm of torque (at 2200 rev/min). Transmission is a five-speed automatic. It provides a maximum road speed of 85 km/h and an operational road range of 1,000 km.
