IDEX 2019: Cilas (Ariane Group) displayed SLD 500 pre-shot sniper and observer detection vehicle mounted system.
The Cilas SLD 500 LRV combines state-of-the-art cameras with a multi-sensor optronic and laser system to detect, while moving, any kind of optics used by snipers and observers.

Cilas’ SLD 500 Long Range for Vehicle is designed to locate and identify potential, long-distance threats posed by snipers or observers using scopes or goggles, and then respond stealthy and quickly. Set up from scratch in less than 15 minutes, this contributes also to provide a maximum security to friendly forces or to protect an area from dissimulated threats at a range of up to 1,000 meters thanks to the day camera, up to 2,000 meters with IR camera NFOV or laser rangefinder. The optical threat localization accuracy turns around 2 meters. The scanning works at 360° in azimuth, and 20° per second. The total system weight is 150 kg.
The system can be controlled by an operator or set in a full automatic detection for a 24/7 surveillance with video recording. When a threat is detected, an alarm will pop-up and the SLD 500 will immediately provide its GPS position and exact distance, allowing counter-sniping teams to respond quietly and quickly. The system can be combined with various thermal imagers for night operations.
The SLD 500 LR (Long Range) is a long-range version well adapted in urban and complex environments. The system is largely deployed, within several security forces for VIP gatherings and governmental buildings.
