The FMTV are strategically deployable vehicles that perform general resupply, ammunition resupply, maintenance and recovery, and engineer support missions. These vehicles are based on a common chassis, varying by payload (2.5 tons to 8.8 tons) and mission requirements. Three truck variants and two companion trailers even provide airdrop capability. And some of the FMTV variants are also able to serve as the platform for the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS).
In addition to that, the FMTV incorporates a vehicle data bus and Class V interactive electronic technical manual, significantly lowering operating and support costs.
These reliable vehicles operate all around the world, in all weather and terrain conditions. With these up-armor kits, the U.S. DoD will reinforce all its FMTV, giving a better protection to the military personnel that is familiar to these vehicles and making it even more reliable on the battlefield.
