In cooperation with U.S. armed forces, the 2nd Brigade of the Indonesian Marine Infantry (Brigif 2) executed an amphibious Landing operation during the 2023 Super Garuda Shield (SGS) Joint Exercise on Banongan Beach, located in Situbondo, East Java, on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

In the context of the 2023 Latgabma Super Garuda Shield (SGS) scenario, Brigif 2's Marine soldiers carried out this amphibious landing mission to secure control of the beach area, which was held by enemy forces. This joint exercise featured a collaboration of military personnel from multiple countries, including Indonesia, the United States, Japan, and Singapore. They utilized a variety of combat vehicles and tactical equipment from the Indonesian Marine Corps and the participating nations. These assets were deployed from the Republic of Indonesia Ship (KRI) Surabaya-591 and included BMP-3F amphibious tanks, LVT-7A1 amphibious vehicles, Kapa vehicles, RM-70 Grad MLRS, and 105 mm howitzers.

Colonel Marine Argo Setiyono, the Commander of Brigif 2 Marines, expressed his deep appreciation for the dedication and enthusiasm displayed by his troops during the execution of the 2023 Super Garuda Shield (SGS) Latgabma.

This exercise is expected to contribute to enhancing the capabilities, skills, and professionalism of Brigif 2 Marines as an elite amphibious landing force. It is a crucial step in ensuring they are well-prepared to fulfill their primary responsibilities within the Indonesian Navy's Marine Corps.
