MBDA expands capabilities of Enforcer missile system.
MBDA Deutschland has broadened the capabilities of its Enforcer missile system, which is now available in versions suitable for anti-tank roles, aerial deployment, and very short-range air defense (V/SHORAD) applications. The announcement was made during a presentation to international journalists at the company's facilities on October 27, 2023.

The Enforcer missile system is currently being procured by the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) to meet the Leichtes Wirkmittel 1800+ requirement. The system is characterized by its lightweight design and shoulder-launch capability, making it particularly suitable for infantry units that require precise striking ability without the burden of heavy equipment.
With an 89 mm caliber, the Enforcer is capable of hitting targets at a distance of over 1,800 meters. The versatility of the system is enhanced by its ability to operate both day and night, thanks to infrared and TV sensors that allow for clear target identification under various lighting conditions.
The Enforcer is not just an anti-tank system; it has been designed to be modular to adapt to different missions. For instance, it can be equipped with various warheads, allowing it to be used for direct strikes against light vehicles or for missions requiring delayed detonation or airburst to maximize the effect on the target.
MBDA Deutschland is working on variants that could be launched from aerial platforms, such as fixed-wing or rotary-wing aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This extended capability would open new avenues for the missile's use, allowing for precise attacks from the air and adding a new dimension to combat strategy.
Michael Rieder, responsible for sales and business development campaigns at MBDA, introduced a modified version of the Enforcer missile equipped with larger fins. This design is intended to meet the Bundeswehr's short-range air defense and counter-small unmanned aerial systems (C-sUAS) needs. The proposed configuration would include a Skyranger 30 platform, based on the Boxer 8x8 armored vehicle, outfitted with nine Enforcer missiles across three cells.
Rieder emphasized the strategy of adapting the existing Enforcer missile to meet the NNbS requirement, noting the current lack of solutions for C-sUAS capable of engaging Class 1 UAVs weighing less than 150 kg.
Dehner also mentioned that the current Enforcer missile can engage targets up to 2 kilometers away and offers various warhead options, including direct impact, delayed impact, or airburst, to effectively destroy light vehicles. System operators can choose between an infrared (IR) or TV sensor for targeting, with IR providing advantages in certain daylight conditions.
