Baltic Mine Countermeasures Squadron to gather in the Baltic Sea in May.

Mine Countermeasures vessels from eight NATO and ally navies are scheduled to gather in the Baltic Sea at the end of May to take part to the "Baltic Mine Countermeasures Squadron Exercise".

The Baltic Mine Countermeasures Squadron Exercise was conceived as part of the Baltic Commanders Conference, a union of navy commanders from Denmark, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Sweden and Germany. Therefore, the eight navies to take part to the exercise are obviously Germany (taking the lead) along with Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and EU partners Sweden, Denmark and Finland.

The military drill is scheduled to take place from Monday 1st of April to Friday 12th of April, in the Baltic Sea, and will involve seamanship and mine neutralisation exercises.The German Navy's 3rd Mine Minesweeping Squadron that will host the event will deploy tender FGS Rhein and FGS Donau, and its minehunters FGS Weilheim and FGS Bad Rappenau.
