Unmanned Mine Countermeasures (MCM) systems have become a crucial component in modern naval operations, allowing navies to detect and neutralize underwater mines more efficiently and safely.

One of the leading MCM systems is the Maritime Mine Counter Measures (MMCM) system developed by Thales. This system features a comprehensive suite of unmanned technologies designed to enhance mine detection and neutralization capabilities.

The MMCM includes unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), and advanced sonar systems that work together to provide a complete mine countermeasures solution. These systems are capable of real-time data exchange and utilize augmented artificial intelligence to improve operational efficiency and safety.

The Royal Navy has also introduced the RFA Stirling Castle, a "mothership" that hosts a variety of unmanned surface and underwater systems.

Similarly, the U.S. Navy has declared initial operational capability for its mine countermeasures suite, which includes the Mine Countermeasures Unmanned Surface Vehicle (MCM USV).

A component of the MCM USV is the Unmanned Influence Sweep System (UISS), which counters acoustic and magnetic mines. This system uses a towed sonar array that emits signals mimicking a ship, causing mines to detonate at a safe distance from actual vessels.

Another vital element is the AN/AQS-20C mine-hunting sonar, which is also towed by the MCM USV. This sonar provides high-resolution images of the seabed, facilitating the identification and classification of underwater mines in various environmental conditions.
