Rostec designs new firearms silencer


The Central Research Institute of Precision Machine-Building (TsNIITOCHMASH) of Rostec created a new silencer with a replaceable heat-absorbing module, Rostec said.

"Silencers with heat-absorbing elements are more compact and effectively brake and cool gunpowder gasses, decrease the shot sound, and prevent sparkles, fire and smoke," it said.

The module is easy to replace in field conditions and the silencer can be used without the heat-absorbing element, if necessary. The new silencer is 210-mm long, the diameter is 38 mm and the weight - 350 gram. It is fully made of Russian components and received a patent of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property. Besides TsNIITOCHMASH, the MISiS University and the Center for Applied Electrodynamics participated in the design.
