The M1043A2 HMMWV Humvee is an upgraded version of the basic Humvee version. The vehicle is designed and manufactured by the American Defence Company AM General. Mobility |
The chassis, mechanical components and general performance are the same as other models of the standard Humvee M998 series. The M1043A2 is motorized with a V-8, 6.5L Diesel Fuel Injection engine coupled to an 4-speed automatic transmission with a maximum input torque rating of 451 lb.-ft. (612 N m). The M1043A2 Humvee uses independent suspensions and portal geared hubs similar to portal axles to make for a full 46cm of ground clearance. The vehicle also has disc brakes on all 4 wheels, and 4-wheel double-wishbone suspension. A key element of the 1995 A2 series modification package was the introduction of a new 6.5-liter naturally aspirated diesel engine with improved 160 horsepower rating. The new engine was coupled with an electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission and a new exhaust emission system with catalytic converter that had been redesigned to meet new 1995 environmental standards.
